Elder Torrence T. Ivy, Sr.

“He has always had the men of God Close to His Heart”

Torrence Turan Charles Ivy was born January 15, 1969.  He is the younger of two children born to Pastor Charles and Missionary Maxine Ivy.  He graduated from Michelle Clark Middle School and Crown Elementary School under the leadership of the late William L. Bond and George Foreman High School majoring in music.  During his time in school he mastered in drums and guitar and taught himself the piano and the organ.  He later attended Wilbur Wright College majoring in electronics.

Torrence was reared in the Mt. Carmel Holiness Church founded by his grandfather Pastor James Franklin Hargrove and served under Pastor Donald Coleman.

Torrence came to Hopewell P.B. Church in October 1995 as Minister of Music.

In November 1996 he married Regina Patton and is the father of four children; Qynton, Charlotte, Torrie and Torrence Jr.

In February 2000 Torrence united with Hopewell P.B. Church and announced his call into the ministry.  In April 2003,during the Chicago River Eccelestical Council, Torrence was ordained as an Elder of the church.  Elder Torrence Ivy was elected to serve as the assistant to the Pastor in November 2003, during this time Torrence was being trained for the passing of the mantel in January 2006.

Elder Ivy served as Pastor of Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church until December 2007.  It was during this time that he received Leadership Council from his Bishop D. W. Patton, Jr. and former Pastor of the Church.  God was preparing Elder Ivy for the journey ahead!

In February 2008 Pastor Ivy answered the call of the Lord.  As the Lord spoke to Abraham, so did he to Pastor Ivy, saying “come from among your kindred and go to a distant land”.  Through this Prophetic Word, Christ Center Institutional Ministries was birthed.  A Ministry rounded in Prayer, Faith and Outreach where “The Bible is Our Authority and Souls Our Priority”!

In January 2013 Pastor Ivy answered another call returning where his ministry began. He accepted the Pastorate of Thompson Hopewell U.P.B. Church and was installed June 8th 2013.  With this call Thompson Hopewell has seen tremendous growth both spiritual and natural.  January, 2015 a vision was birthed to build “The Leroy Bridgeforth Center” a multipurpose facility for up-reach and outreach to the community as an extension of the Kingdom of God.  Habakkuk says write the vision and make it plain.  We Thank God for our Visionary!
